Pop it or Toss it!: Into the Woods

Howdy fellows!

A couple weeks ago I saw Into the Woods. I had seen its page on IMDb some time before, and i thought it looked interesting. So I gave it a try.

This movie...I have mixed feels. On one hand, it kept me entertained, and i wanted to know what happened next. On the other, it was a little odd and had a lot of plot holes.

So let's start at the beginning. I knew it was a musical going into it, but I didn't know just how musical it was gonna get. It starts out with a song introducing all the characters. A very catchy song that introduce the characters and their scenarios, and you would expect to sing for a week after you see the movie. Except the song goes on for at the very least 5 or 10 minutes, with spots of dialogue in between. The song itself was fun, and did its job, but after 5 minutes you start grinning with the people you came with with this "Oh my gosh, look at what we've got for the next 2 hours." look.

But don't worry. You get breaks during it to hear a different song, and see spots of dialogue between characters. And it eventually does end.

The characters were fun and captivating. Including the baker, who I recognized as Greg. The best companion of the doctor ever!; the father of the almighty stromageddon! unfortunately my dad and I seemed to be the only Whovians in the audience, and we were the only people to appreciate the scene where... never mind, that's a spoiler.

After watching it, my family and I had A LOT of questions. Like "why did they,"  "I dont get...", and stuff like that. If you heard our conversation in the car, you wouldn't think we liked it.

And I don't know if I did. During the movie I was entertained, with a few places of it I didn't like. But after the moving I thought more about what I didn't like than what I did. I can't say I like it without mentioning what I didn't like, and I can't say I don't like it without defending it.

Pop it or Toss it?: I'm giving this a big fat Más o menos (meaning more or less).

If you want to see it, don't stop yourself.

If from the commercials you can see this isn't your cup of tea, then it probably isn't.

If you hate musicals, than just stay home.

If you like musicals, give it a shot!

Thanks for reading!
