Hey Everybody!
Today I have yet another original short film for you. Personally, I find this to be my strongest piece yet.
The idea came to me when I was walking down the hall to the shower. Why do all my ideas come to me when I’m walking by my bathroom? I guess ideas just flow out of me. Actually, scratch that, that was a terrible pun.
Anyway, I was thinking of two characters in a story I have been writing, and the dynamic between them. I imagined that male character thinking of the female character, and describing her as “Having a burnt taste that shows no intention of leaving me”. This meaning that she is very bitter, and seems like she doesn’t want to put up with him. But she never leaves. It also perfectly describes coffee, how the flavor doesn’t leave your tongue for quite a while.
I liked the idea, and kept thinking about it. How the woman was very dark and moody, and the man was bright and wishful. Two complete opposites that really shouldn’t put up with each other, but do.
Clearly, the woman character was Coffee. I thought of her male counterpart as someone she kept denying that she needed her life. She always talks about how being alone and shutting off emotions is the way to go. And mocks him for being so ridiculous. She sees him as naive and peppy. Or so she acts that way.
Now cream, the male character, is intrigued by Coffee, but doesn’t believe he should get pulled down in her bitterness. He is what adds light, or sweetness, to her life. And Coffee is what gives strength in his.
But of them are stubborn in their own way. Coffee wants to have strength, Cream wants happiness. Which are both good qualities, but neither are good at balancing them...without each other at least.
I shot this film with DeeDee, my Canon 70D. The lines were recorded in a fully equipped studio, which I would very much like to thank for the opportunity.
Without further ado, I present to you, Coffee & Cream:
Thank you all for reading/ watching, and be sure to check my Youtube channel: A Good Reason Film Production for more of my films. There's not much as of now, but I have lots of ideas and have all the intention to grow.
