I had nothing to do earlier today, so I watched a movie on Netflix. I had heard of the movie A Monster in Paris while I was page surfing on IMDb sometime back. It looked interesting, and I had been meaning to watch it. And I'm glad I did.
Plot summary:
Pop it?: This movie is amazing. I found it truly captivating.
The Animation: I was actually a little surprised at how good the animation was. Everything looked great, and the cartoony movements of the characters were spot on. There lots of subtle bits with the just the characters movements that i just adored.
The Characters: Man I love these characters. (Again, excuse the lack of exclamation point.) Honestly they were my favorite part of the movie. They were all so entertaining. THey each their own style, and I loved the voice acting for them all. The actors did a great job. But I’ll get back to that in a moment. There was great chemistry with the characters, and they were all very unique and captivating.
The Acting: The acting in this film was very good. All of the actors did a great job of making their character come to life. And the dialogue felt very natural. Even as unnatural the story gets, the actors keep the characters grounded, and the story goes on how it naturally should.
The story: This tells a very unique story. You may think you know what you’re gonna see...You think yu’re gonna see something like King Kong, where the monster falls in love with the girl in a white dress. NOPE. I can guarantee that you won’t predict every move it’s gonna make.
Toss It?: It’s pretty clear that this movie is aimed for kids. If I were a little kid, I imagine myself being a little bored in the beginning, and anticipating a lot of the monster. Personally, I loved the beginning and found it very entertaining. But I see kids anticipating a little bit of a different story. But not too different, I Don't think.
In Between?: Yes folks, this is a new addition to the Pop it or Toss it blog. However, the thing I would like to discuss here our spoilers. And if you have read anything with a spoiler alert here, you know that I DON’T WANT ANYTHING SPOILED FOR YOU. EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED. So here is your official warning. If you are skipping the spoiler, skip all the text in red. SPOILER ALERT
I have some mixed feelings on the very end. The concert fades out into what looks like an epilogue. Which it is...only with a flashback. I liked how Raoul and Lucille admit their feelings for each other...I think it was either the flashback that through me off, or the fact that this was the epilogue. It’s a nice scene, it’s just the placement feels weird. And then the flashback part of it...It was cute...But a little odd to me. Not very odd. I mean they met really did establish the relationship between the two. I’m just still debating if the flashback was really necessary. Maybe if it would’ve been a little different, like if it didn’t have the pause after the concert and just showed him shyly going up to her door. But again, I think the placement of it was what was a little weird to me.
Alright the spoiler is done. I see how easily you can miss this movie, but you really shouldn't’. IF you have the chance, you should check it out. A Monster in Paris is on Netflix. and is rated PG.
Thank you for reading (Again, exclamation point)
